th weather

The weather can be fairy hot (35-40 C) and humid during the summer months from late February to June. We have a lot of rains starting any time from May and might last until mid October. Training of the birds would start in September and great precaution must be taken to avoid rain during the training flights or else many birds will be lost. November through mid January is the best part of the year for pigeon racing. The temperature is around 15-28 degree Celsius in the north and 22-30 degree Celsius in Bangkok. Normally, prevailing wind during this period will be from the northeast with speed of 15-35 km per hour. It can be very foggy in the morning especially in the northern part of the county. The flight path terrain is mountainous during the first 150 km from Chiangmai and becomes fairly flat after that. Flying time is 8 hours plus/minus depending on weather condition.
