The past ten days still saw lots of rain which made it difficult to train the birds. Nevertheless, we managed to go two more times to 35 km. The fist attempt from 60 km was aborted and the birds taken back due to heavy rain storm. After that, we were able to take the birds out to 60 km two times but the birds were released in small batches still to minimize accidents. That made it altogether nine times that we had taken the birds out. It is quite a job to move more than 1500 pigeons from the top of a nine floors building down to the conveyer truck every time we take the birds out. Thanks to the efforts of our strong team of loft keepers who have been doing this job for eight years already. Weather permitting, we’ll train the birds again from 60 km this Monday, October 19th. This time the birds will be released all in one go and arrival times broadcasted on line. Please note also that this year, we do not release the birds so early as in the past. For short distance flights, they will be released around 8.00 am.
